The purposes of a virtual community are, to put it in a nutshell, to solve some kind of problem, to collectively share ideas and to create „new“ knowledge.

Je mehr wir uns im Rahmen der Neuron Community mit kollektiver, partizipativer Wissenskonstruktion befassen, desto stärker rückt für mich die Wikipedia in den Blickpunkt.
Langfristig bin ich der Meinung, dass die Wikipedia auch für die Wissenschaft, zum Beispiel als Ort der Selbstpräsentation, immer attraktiver wird. Das zunehmende wissenschaftliche Engagement würde ich hauptsächlich damit erklären, dass Wissenschaftler [...]

Netzsensibilität und Kommunikationskompetenz sind definitif entscheidend – genau dies wurde mir auch gestern Nachmittag bei der Präsentation der IPK-Projekte deutlich. Die Studierenden hatten sich Wikiversity-Accounts angelegt, in Foren diskutiert, Kontakte u.a. in Bulgarien und Schweden aquiriert, gemeinsam ein Forschungsdesign entwickelt und eine Forschungsreise durchgeführt (zum Großteil aus eigener Tasche bezahlt).
